Abstrakt: The cortisol content of blood plasma and semen of bulls was less than 2.2 μg/100 ml and was not influenced by repetitive ejaculation. Within 40 min after injection of 500 mg cortisol i.v., the cortisol content of semen was similar to that of blood plasma indicating a rapid transfer of the cortisol into the reproductive tract secretions. Following cortisol administration, plasma levels of calcium and magnesium were increased, potassium was decreased and sodium remained unchanged. Semen mineral levels were not altered after cortisol injection.
