Newborn heifers, bitches, and gilts were injected with androgens or progestogens within 48 hours after birth. Pregnant cows were injected with an androgen during gestation. At doses used these treatments did not produce anovulatory, sterile animals. There were no apparent effects of treatments on body weights, age at first estrus, ovulation rate, estrous cycle length, or fertility. The clitoris was enlarged in bitches treated with androgens and in heifer progeny of cows treated with androgens. |
