Abstrakt: Five individual amino acids, beta-alanine, DL-aspartic acid, L-glutamic, glycine and L-lysine, were fed to a fistulated steer. Significant deamination, as indicated by ammonia production in the rumen, was demonstrated with beta-alanine, DL-aspartic acid and L-glutamic acid. The break down in the rumen of amino acids into ammonia and other materials varies.
