The rheumatologic disorders affecting the lumbar spine encompass a variety of clinical entities encountered in the daily practice of the physician. There are distinct similarities and differences in these disorders with regard to genetic predisposition, pathophysiology, clinical expression, and treatment. This review discusses the recent advances that impact upon the lumbar spine issues related to diagnostic approaches and therapeutic options also are discussed. |
