Because the extracellular matrix is essential for the function of all the major tissues in the musculoskeletal system, the processes that regulate its removal during normal remodeling and pathologic destruction are relevant to the orthopaedic clinician and scientist. In this review, we comment on developments in this rapidly evolving field over the past year. |
