Abstrakt: Groin pain is a common complaint in athletes, and failure to make a correct diagnosis and institute appropriate treatment may result in severe limitations or even complete abstinence from sports activities. Possible causes of groin pain include muscle strain, osteitis pubis, avulsion or stress fractures, abdominal wall tears, bursitis, and arthritis. Many of these conditions are treatable, but it is often difficult to distinguish among the various causes on the basis of history and physical findings alone. Magnetic resonance imaging is frequently useful in detecting abnormalities within bones, muscles, and joint spaces of the groin, which in turn helps determine the cause of the pain. We present the magnetic resonance imaging findings of athletes with groin pain, demonstrating various types of musculoskeletal pathologic lesions.
