Based on 350 responses from undergraduate and graduate nursing students, major areas of concern in regard to human sexuality were identified. This paper discusses the issues under-lying the stated concerns and addresses the critical need for sex education in nursing. It suggests specific curricular approaches to implementation of the issues in nursing education. Since nurses deal with the affective concerns of patients more than any other health professionals, and since these concerns inevitably involve sexuality, this article will be of interest and relevance to the nurse educator. |
