Abstrakt: Burn prevention programs must be developed and administered that target specific at-risk groups. This report presents a summary of the characteristics of 1332 pediatric and adult patients treated in Arkansas, a state located in the heart of the “burn belt.” Scalds were the predominant injury, especially in young children less than 6 years old. Flame burns, specifically clothing flame burns, were the leading cause of death for all the hospitalized patients.
