Abstrakt: Publications during the past year reported a number of advances in pharmacotherapy for neonates. Among the most important reports are studies of the use of inhaled surfactant and systemically administered corticosteroids for the prevention or treatment of respiratory disease in premature newborns. In addition, selected new information of interest regarding cardiovascular drugs, immune modulation to prevent infection, anemia of prematurity, and analgesia and sedation for the neonate is reviewed.
