Abstrakt: Sclerosing stromal tumor of the ovary is a rare tumor of ovarian stromal origin, predominantly occurring in young women in the second and third decades of life. The complex ultrasound scan features of this mainly benign tumor can suggest malignancy. This preoperative misdiagnosis has led to inappropriate and often extensive surgical procedures being performed on young women with dire consequences to their reproductive capability. Ultrasound scan remains a poor tool in the diagnosis of this tumor. Should a solid/multilocular tumor be encountered in a young woman (with menstrual irregularity and subfertility), the rare possibility of sclerosing stromal tumor of the ovary must be kept in mind.
