Abstrakt: The five goals of this study were (1) to determine whether compression is required in breast specimen radiography, (2) to determine whether any diagnostic differences exist in compression for calcified versus noncalcified lesions, (3) to see whether compression affected radiologic interpretation of the specimen margins, (4) to validate that compression did not affect verification of hook wire removal, and (5) to evaluate whether a noncompressed specimen radiograph can be taken that will allow adequate visualization of the targeted lesion and hook wire such that the radiologist has confidence in his or her intraoperative communication with the surgeon.
