Abstrakt: Microcirculatory failure, activation of Kupffer cells (KC), and the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) are considered pivotal mechanisms of reperfusion injury after orthotopic liver transplantation. However, the sequence of these events and their impact on early graft function remain controversial. We therefore investigated whether KC induce microcirculatory disturbances through ROS release and whether microcirculatory failure contributes to early graft function after liver transplantation.
