Abstrakt: The MMPI-168 responses of outpatients meeting DSM-III criteria for a borderline personality disorder were compared with those of other psychiatric outpatients. Although the two groups evidenced similar profile patterns, the borderline patients showed a more elevated profile, with significantly higher elevations on three of the 10 clinical scales— Psychopathic Deviate, Paranoia, and Schizophrenia. The self-report responses of borderline patients thus suggest pathology in the specific areas of impulsivity, hostility, suspiciousness, and unconventional thinking.
