Abstrakt: Severe renal adverse effects have been documented after intravenous immune globulin (IVIG) therapy. This is the first reported case of successfully using IVIG to treat a patient with Clostridium difficileinfection with concomitant acute renal failure where the patient did not experience a worsening of renal function. The use of IVIG in C. difficileand the mechanism of renal failure secondary to IVIG are reviewed. In addition, a brief overview of IVIG use in patients with acute renal failure is included.
