Abstrakt: | Discusses the various kinds of legal and moral obligations of children towards their parents in Roman Egypt, as implied on wills, private letters and some types of private contracts saved on papyrus documents. Particular attention is paid to the identification of different obligations between sons and daughters, and especially towards a widowed mother. Considers how these filial obligations strengthened the family ties in the society of Roman Egypt. |
