| Abstrakt: | The history of the development of Captopril (SQ 14225), an orally active inhibitor of angiotensin‐converting enzyme, is described. In addition to preventing the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, it also inhibits the breakdown of bradykinin. It appears to reduce blood pressure both in hypertensive animal models and in humans. |
