Abstrakt: Child dummies in the age range three to ten years old, restrained by adult seat belts alone and in combination with booster cushions, were tested in simulated perpendicular impacts of cars at 50 km/h. The project was divided into two phases in which various aspects of the restraint of child dummies were examined. In Phase 1 basic data was obtained on the way child dummies behave when restrained by adult seat belts. Proprietary booster cushions were tested for Phase 2 and they were found to be of benefit to the child. Overall the best combination was a firm tethered booster cushion with a three-point automatic seat belt.
