Sera from 7calves infected with a large Babesiarecently isolated from 2places in South-East England, were subjected to the indirect fluorescent antibody test. All samples reacted strongly with an antigen prepared from a Netherlands strain of Babesia majorwith titres varying from 1/320to 1/2560: the sera reacted weakly with Babesia bigemina with titres ranging from 1/40to 1/160. It was concluded that the large Babesiaof British cattle was a strain of B. major. |
