Abstrakt: The half-life of various C21-steroids in plasma of male guinea pigs was studied and compared to that of 3β-hydroxy-androst-5-en-17-one (dehydroepiandrosterone, DHEA). While the latter amounted to 8.0 minutes corresponding to earlier findings, the following values were obtained for the C21-steroids: 4.4 minutes for 3β=hydroxy-pregn-5-en-20-one (pregnenolone), 2.0 minutes for 3β,17α-dihydroxy-pregn-5-en-20-one (17-OH-pregnenolone), 3.3 minutes for pregn-4-ene-3,20-dione (progesterone) and 17.0 minutes for 11β,17,21-trihydroxy-pregn-4-ene-3,20-dione (cortisol).
