Abstrakt: Normal aging in men frequently is associated with a decline in serum testosterone levels below the normal range for young adult men. These changes in serum testosterone with age may impact negatively on androgen target organs such as bone, muscle, and psychosexual functioning. Androgen replacement therapy may be of benefit in certain older men, but the potential benefits must be balanced with the potential risks.
