Lumbar microdiscectomy with medial facetectomy is a safe and effective operative option in the treatment of symptomatic herniated lumbar discs in selected patients. The authors present their operative approach to patients with a posterolateral (intracanalicular) lumbar disc herniation and review a compilation of surgical series comparing standard and microsurgical approaches to the herniated lumbar disc. |
