Abstrakt: This article addresses the subject of cerebral blood flow in patients suffering penetrating craniocerebral injuries. The discussion focuses on cerebral hemodynamic disturbances as assessed by either xenon-133 cerebral blood flow measurements or transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasonography. The implications of low cerebral blood flow and vasospasm-induced ischemia on outcome are illustrated.
