Abstrakt: There have been numerous advances in operative techniques and the preoperative and postoperative care of patients undergoing lung transplantation. Intensive care immediately after transplant, preoperative and postoperative pulmonary rehabilitation, and aggressive treatment of infection and rejection have become established components of successful recovery. Nursing has an essential, collaborative role as part of an interdisciplinary team that cares for lung transplant patients. This article addresses the most frequently encountered collaborative problems and nursing diagnoses associated with the care of lung transplant patients and their families. An in-depth understanding, along with further research into the management of these problems, will result in improvements in the quality of care.
