Abstrakt: Continuous arteriovenous hemofiltration (CAVH) is a renal replacement therapy performed in the ICU setting. For the patient who is critically ill and hemodynamically unstable, CAVH has proven to be a beneficial treatment. The highly permeable hemofilter allows for fluid removal at rates of 300 cc/hour or more thereby permitting liberal intake. Since the patient’s blood pressure is the driving force, the treatment is gentle in nature. These advantages make it the therapy of choice for critically ill patients requiring effective volume removal.
