Abstrakt: Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is a serious and life-threatening disease. The diagnosis is difficult to make because the early symptoms can be suggestive of other types of skin infections. Prompt recognition and intervention is critical to the treatment of NF. The perioperative case study illustrates how one healthy woman started with “the flu” and was admitted through the emergency room for what was eventually diagnosed as NF. Though her course of treatment did not necessarily fit all the recommended treatments as described in the literature, she was able to survive her case of NF.
