Clobetasol propionate, the most topical steroid to appear to date, is approximately 1800 times as powerful as hydrocortisone. When viewed objectively, there are remarkably few published instances of serious side effects related to its sensible use; most serious problems have occurred with overdosage or as a result of idiosyncratic responses. Clobetasol is a remarkable local steroid that may be useful for short-term and intermittent treatment of widespread inflammatory dermatoses. Proper observance of restrictions and precautions is essential. |
