| Abstrakt: | In an organic solvent system, 3-oxo-3-arylpropanenitriles are C-alkylated by bakers yeast. The reported mechanism for bakers yeast alkylation of ethyl cyanoacetate ( 13), in an aqueous system, has been revised. |
