It was found that C 60bearing an NCH 2CH 2(OCH 2CH 2) 2OMe side chain changes its absorption spectrum (and consequently, its visual color) upon addition of AgCF 3SO 3. The spectroscopic studies established that Ag +directly interacts with CC double bonds on the C 60surface. This system serves as a novel methodology to change spectroscopic and redox properties of C 60by added metal cations. |
