Abstrakt: The Author's study is concerning the ovary activity of the patients treated with radium for cervix carcinoma. 15 subjects were observed during one year after radium-therapy and it was observed in five patients with trophic vaginal smear the absence of the menopausal syndrome; the other ten patients with hypertrophic and distrophic cytological picture were affected by serious vascular instability of the menopause. The treatment with gonadotropin hormones (FSH and LH) of four patients, after 16-18 months of amenorrhea by radium, reverted the hypotrophic vaginal smear to a trophic one, while the menopausal syndrome was stopped during the treatment. The A. retains that after the radium dosage of 7.541 mgr/hr (dose used in the Gynoecological Department of the Cancer Institute in Milan) the ovarian activity is not yet extinguished. The ovaries of four patients operated with Wertheim's, after the radium therapy, were showing theca cells activity and in one patient, treated with gonadotropins, it was seen a growing follicle and the luteinitation of two follicles.
