The luminescence of potassium rare earth orthophosphates, K3RE(PO4)2, RE = La, Ce, Tb, was studied at 298 and 10 K under UV and VUV excitation. The band gaps determined by reflection and excitation spectra were found in the range 7.2–7.8 eV. The results are discussed. The observed narrow excitation band at the VUV absorption edge is caused by an excitation of PO3-4anion molecules in the hosts. |
