A lime‐softened groundwater and a conventionally treated surface water were used in pilot studies of trihalomethane removals. The results of the two studies were nearly identical. The data were used to determine constants of a correlation for the liquid mass transfer coefficient. The correlation was applied to a process design model to determine a cost‐effective design for 87 percent removal of bromoform. |
