Abstrakt: The study of the natural fracturing of a tabular limestone platform located in southern France (Causse du Larzac) is carried out with the help of data collected in the field and from airphotos. The scales of the surfaces investigated range from 1 to 120 km 2. Field measurements are treated according to microtectonical methods. Fracture surveys from airphotos are first digitized, then analyzed by computer aided methods. Both techniques provide values of the same quantitative parameter (fissural directional intensity) and the question of the representativity of the punctal field data with regards to photogeological data is discussed in terms of statistical inference.
