Abstrakt: |
The conductivities of liquid La and several liquid transition metals are evaluated numerically for clusters of 365 atoms. These metals are characterized by strong scattering and s-d hybridization, hence the applicability of the Boltzmann equation is doubtful. The conductivity is related to the product of a density of states and a diffusivity. Although the diffusivity of d states is less than that of s states, the d states dominate the conductivity because of their much greater density. |
