Abstrakt: This paper describes a practical method of evaluating the performance of detergents by using huck towels soiled in plant mechanical shops and washed in a 5 gal semiautomatic washer. Detergency, redeposition and optical brightener intensity are evaluated by reflectance, yellowness, blueness and ultraviolet fluorescence measured on a Gardner Larger Area Colorimeter after six soil-wash cycles. The precision of the method is determined statistically by analysis of variance. Significant differences to a 95% confidence level that can be expected by this method are given.
