Groups of pregnant gilts were experimentally infected with four different leptospiral serovars, muenchen, bratislava, copenhageniand in isolate belonging to the Pomona serogroup, isolated from British wildlife. Inoculations took place as near as possible to day 70 of gestation. In non-aborting gilts, full-term foetuses were delivered by hysterectomy to facilitate full clinical, serological and bacteriological examinations. |
