Magnesium and lithium complexation by 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane

Abstrakt: The stability constants of magnesium and lithium complexes of 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane (cyclen) have been determined in 0.5 M KNO 3at 25 °C by means of potentiometric titration, as KMgL= 1.77 × 10 2and KLi L< 10 −2, respectively. Ab initiocalculations on the protonated species of the cyclen ligand have been performed in order to obtain a better understanding of experimental protonation constants, and to compare them to previous calculations on the investigated metal complexes.
