Abstrakt: Few instruments are available to analyse objective working conditions. Two new job analysis instruments are presented, which refer to the “theory of action regulation”. One main assumption within this theory is that industrial work in our society leads to partialized action. Partialization of action has two psychological impacts: (1) The worker is not able to build up a complete structure of human action because of insufficient regulation requirements. (2) He is forced to adopt risky or stressing strategies because of regulation barriers which impede his working on the task. The instruments to measure regulation requirements and regulation barriers at work are presented. Possible applications to the problems of design of work in small and medium sized firms are demonstrated.
