Abstrakt: Prospective evaluation of working tasks based on psychological criteria and instruments for work analysis leads to a new interdisciplinary approach in the design of single work places as well as larger organizational structures. In manufacturing, IItask design ll seems to be the most important step in the transfer of human-oriented evaluation criteria into functional requirements of CIM-components, and shows the way to a skill-based organization of work. The application of the new approach in an advanced West German group technology project resulted in, detailed descriptions of three options for task design for the future working groups and in concrete requirements for task allocation and technical work instruments such as CAP-systems, CNC-machine tools etc., based on the evaluated options.
