Abstrakt: Hydrocephalus constitutes the most common complication of subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH). It has been observed that a temporary ventricular dilatation can occur immediately after the haemorrhage in about half of the cases. Most of them normalize, either spontaneously or after surgery, in the following days or weeks. We must also take into account the cases when there is no initial ventricular dilatation, but hydrocephalus occurs later. However, not all the patients who develop hydrocephalus in the post-SAH course will be treated with a permanent shunt procedure. On average, 15–20% of all SAH cases require it, according to different sources.
