Abstrakt:	The development of an undergraduate laboratory supporting the teaching of power electronics and electrical drives is described. This laboratory is used for standard experiments, but more importantly has led to the introduction of student-centred hardware and software design exercises. Such studies have improved student awareness of power engineering without detracting from the overall emphasis upon electronics within their course.
