Discrete Model Reduction via a Taylor Series Approximation

Abstrakt: This paper presents a simple model reduction method for single input single output linear discrete time systems. The method is based on equating the coefficients of the Taylor Series expansions of the original and the reduced discrete time models. The method is very simple to apply in that a simple formula gives all the necessary parameters needed to affect the reduction. Examples are given to show the fidelity of the time and frequency responses of the reduced models.
