Abstrakt: The relationship between parental behavior and children's self-esteem was examined. Greater parental support and milder punishments were related to higher self-esteem in 123 children from Grades 5 and 6. The correlations between self-esteem and three dimensions of parental behavior differed significantly for boys and girls. Parental behavior was more highly related to boys' than to girls' self-esteem.
