The WISC-III was recently published with an expanded manual and numerous interpretive tables. One notable omission from this otherwise thorough manual is the provision of subtest specificities (estimates of reliable specific variance) for the WISC-III subtests. Estimates of reliable specific variance can be very useful for gauging the amount of interpretation based on a single Wechsler subtest score. This study used the method described by Kaufman in 1979 to compute new subtest specificities for the WISC-III. Implications of these new subtest specificity values for WISC-III interpretation are provided. |
