Abstrakt: This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of two abbreviated forms of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale, L-M, i.e., vocabulary score, starred-tests method, in predicting the Full Scale IQ, and classifying institutionalized mentally retarded adults in their appropriate range of intellectual functioning. Correlations between methods were high but resulted in significantly different IQs causing a number of individuals to be misclassified. Implications for the intellectual assessment of mentally retarded adults are discussed.
