The increased level of automation and changes in organizations are changing the nature of process control. These developments are setting new requirements on process control systems. Technologies available today make it possible to support organization related functions like communication, co-operation, co-ordination and knowledge management. The systems of the future will contain tools that support functions inside the organization as well. This paper presents an organization related framework for the development of process control systems. Example tools and a case study are also presented. |
