Abstrakt: Discovering the cause of poor performance in racehorses can often represent a considerable challenge, eluding the more common diagnostic techniques currently being used to aid in the diagnosis of poor performance in the racehorse. Specific attention is paid to gait analysis and dynamic hoof balancing, endoscopic evaluation of upper airway function during exercise, analysis of pulmonary function, and exercise stress testing for assessing fitness. The application of diagnostic medical imaging, such as nuclear scintigraphy and computed tomography scanning, for the evaluation of musculoskeletal abnormalities and respiratory function is discussed.
