Abstrakt: SUMMARYIt is 75 years since the process of sulphuric acid anodizing was patented in the United Kingdom. It is the most widely used anodizing process internationally and finds applications as diverse as cosmetic containers to components in space vehicles. The main areas of specialist technology—architectural, aerospace, decorative and hard anodizing are considered in detail. Developments in ancillary processes, such as cleaning, etching dyeing and colouring as well as sealing are considered. Developments in plant and power supplies, as well as jigs and racks are also reviewed. A comprehensive list of literature references is also included.
