Abstrakt: Previous research has indicated that seating preference in classrooms is related to some personal characteristics. Similar relations are assumed to be found in sports settings. In this study, the associations of rated preference for playing location in group practice of golf with trait anxiety and preference for visibility were investigated. Subjects were 165 Japanese university students who participated in a series of golf lessons. One-factor analyses of variance showed that subjects' rated preference for playing location was significantly related to their scores on trait anxiety and their preference for visibility of location. These results suggest that, in sports practice as in classrooms, preference for location may be associated with measures of personality and visibility.
