AbstractWith the advent of full-text information products and services in electronic form, feedback from end users through analysis of logfiles could become a powerful management tool both for librarians and publishers. First, this paper contains a description of what a logfile is, and what can or cannot be logged. The next issue is to describe which questions could be relevant both from the librarian’s and publisher’s perspective. Examples from The University Licensing Program (TULIP), the Elsevier Articles Supplied Electronically (EASE) project at the Catholic University Brabant (The Netherlands), and Elsevier Science products and services currently offered on the Web will be used for illustration. The paper concludes with some extrapolations about future developments. |
