Abstrakt: AbstractThe objective of this cross-sectional study was to assess the health education outcomes provided hyprimary health care (PHC) centres in Al Khobar City; the knowledge, attitude, practice (KAP) about the role of the PHC centre; and five important health problems – diarrhoea, accidental poisoning, jaundice, fever, and anaemia. Information concerning KAP towards vaccination was also recorded. The degree of satisfaction with health education offered by the PHC centres’ team was assessed. This was attempted through assessment of the KAP of a random sample of adult PHC centres’ attendants towards common health problems and other related issues. A total of 279 attendants were selected randomly and interviewed using a questionnaire designed for this purpose. Results of this study showed that KAP scores towards the role of PHC centres accounted for the lowest (mean = 36.8%). Although there were striking and statistically significant variations among different PHC centres, KAP scores to health problems were satisfactory and generally above average. Degree of satisfaction with health education offered scored a low mean (22.9%). Based on, the results of this study, appropriate and practical recommendations are stressed.
